Welcome!
Thank you for visiting the Birds of Forbes NSW project.
In this year, 2020, the Forbes Arts Society has secured a grant to build three more bird hides at the Gum Swamp Wetland. These bird hides form part of the wonderful Sculpture Trail which meanders for many kilometres from the centre of the township of Forbes out along the road to Condobolin. It will eventually meander for over 100kms.
This project is to discover how many species of bird can be found in and around the township of Forbes. When particular birds are present, and the breeding and feeding habits.
With several Travelling Stock Routes surrounding the township providing ideal habitat for many bush birds, Lake Forbes and the Lachlan River and the Gum Swamp Wetland providing habitat and breeding grounds for many waterbirds and free 48 hour stopover available at Wheogo Park, Forbes is an ideal destination for bird lovers.
Please upload your photos of birds in and around Forbes, NSW and they will be included in this project and expand our knowledge and understanding of the bird life.
