iNaturalist forum for City Nature Challenge discussion

Hi all - Counting down to City Nature Challenge! We'll be sure to post any fun updates, resources and additional information here in the journal as the CNC weekend approaches!

If you have questions are want some further information about City Nature Challenge in general, here is an iNat forum on CNC - during the CNC weekend, this is the best place to go if you have any questions or issues using iNat:
https://forum.inaturalist.org/c/city-nature-challenge/21

On social media, you can search the #citynaturechallenge for posts or check the Facebook posts from Woodland Park Zoo, Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Green Tukwila, such as this event post:

Now's the time to scout out your locations, think about where you're going to head to and where you might have the best chance of finding and photographing some cool species! We'd love your help getting observations across our whole area and in places we haven't typically had observations, whether that's a very urban place or somewhere more wild!

Cheers,
Katie, Woodland Park Zoo

Ready, set, City Nature Challenge!

Hello all!
It's close - get ready for 12:01 a.m. April 30th to start your City Nature Challenge 2021 observations!

Have a great weekend - we're so excited to see what you find and where you find it!

During the CNC weekend, this iNat forum is the best place to go if you have any questions or issues using iNat:

Here's a great new iNaturalist Photo Guide with tips on getting photos that are most useful for species identification, from the Reynolds Research Group at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia:

or download it directly here

Remember that we are looking for wild plants, animals, fungi and other organisms and not for domestic pets or cultivated plants (though native plants in urban landscapes are OK, even though they may have been planted there by people!)

Cheers,
Katie, Woodland Park Zoo
