Urliup Wildlife Sanctuary, is our privately owned sanctuary located in the Tweed Caldera, the world's second largest extinct volcano crater, Mt Warning - or Wollumbin - to give it its local Aboriginal name.

The property is our home and a dedicated wildlife sanctuary, and it is our intent for it to remain solely for habitat and wildlife protection.
Our sanctuary covers over 42.3 hectares, of which approximately 36.07 hectares is remnant vegetation, mapped as very high or high ecological status. A diversity of vegetation communities including subtropical rainforest and both wet and dry sclerophyll forests are found on Urliup Wildlife Sanctuary, with water sources being a dam and Urliup Creek which runs through the property. A wide range of wildlife species are known to occur here on Urliup Wildlife Sanctuary.
Urliup Wildlife Sanctuary is a member of Humane Society International, Wildlife Land Trust Australia and Land for Wildlife, who both provide support to manage areas for biodiversity and wildlife habitat. We are very passionate about conservation of Australian flora and fauna.
My name is Sandy and I studied Biological Sciences in Sydney, Australia. I worked as a scientist in medical & veterinary research for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia, and after that for other private companies.
