I am a retired banker and am 1 st Responder for Sanccob Saves Seabirds and Bayworld Port Elizabeth, South Africa along the Sunshine Coast - Woody Cape section of Cannon Rocks to Fish River. We do interim rehydration of African Penguins and seabirds until we can get them to Sanccob. We act under instructions from Sanccob and Bayworld. We have the annual Cape Fur Seal pups that are washed off their colony on the low lying Black Rocks in Algoa Bay, during high seas. They are not weaned and have about a 7 day window to be returned to their mothers on Black Rocks. Bird Island is also very close to Cannon Rocks and has the largest Cape Gannet Colony.
