A 24-inch (+/-) specimen seen and photographed late day in the Little Big Econ State Forest. The nearest water source was at least 75 yards distant. Personal note: As with many A. conanti I've encountered, this beautiful specimen was content to hold her ground, as long as I maintained a respectful distance! I sat on the sandy ground about 10 feet away for over half an hour, waiting for a large sun-obscuring cloud to move past and provide better photography lighting (Photo #6). Once it did, I walked around and snapped a few photos from various positions, some as close as 2.5 feet. She briefly did a single open-mouth display (between photos, unfortunately) but was otherwise content to remain still and keep a wary eye on the human interloper.
