This "shells" were found at the bottom of a dried pond on Pepperwood Preserve. I cracked on open, and the object in the second picture fell out. I'm not sure if they are shells, so if anyone knows, feel free to identify it.

Plant grew in dry, dirt area near an oak bush. Tall, skinny, and sparse. Clusters of flowers were smaller than that of Cow Parsnip and Queen Anne's Lace, but flowers were in bloom. Odor was not distinct. Appeared to be only one in the area, and flower clumps on the plant were not large in number. Identified by The Wild Garden: Hansen's Northwest Native Plant Database.

A sample of water was collected from a pond and this creature was found in it. This bug is roughly 1-2 mm long. The picture is at 4x magnification under a microscope. Possibly a dragonfly nyphm.

This microscopic organism was found in a sample of fresh water from a pond. There is a distinct red dot towards the top/front of this organism. There are yellow and green tinted organs within the creature as well. This microscopic organism is transparent and was squirming under the microscope. The lens of the microscope was at 40x magnification for the first two pictures and 60x magnification for the other picture. This is a larve or nauplius of a cyclops (copepod) crustacean.

This small scorpion was found under a rock in partial shade. There was some moisture under the rock as well as some dry dirt. 3 other similar scorpions were found under rocks within a 10 meter radius. The scorpion is roughly 4 cm long with its tail curled in. The head and tail are a darker color compared to the thick abdomen. This was the largest scorpion found amongst the other 3.

This grass was found in and around a small pond. The grass is a bright green/yellow color with a dry and hair-like tip that is 2-2.5 cm long. The tip is a light brown color. The green blades of grass grow in large patches and have a smooth texture.

This Giant salamander egg was found in double pond on Pepperwood Preserve. There were groups of 5-20 of them, but I only got a picture of one.

This baby salamander was found in a small body of water in Redwood Canyon. He was about 1-2 inches long, and flesh colored with black spots.
