Yesterday, we had a little bit of rain, so I thought I'd put out the moth light to see what bugs would show up tonight... TONS of bugs -- mostly nuptial ants and long-necked seed bugs...
This specimen looks like a match for pictures of this genus. The banded legs - black-red-black-yellow-black (as most clearly seen in picture 3) might help identify to species if that is possible. Based on these sources, I am suggesting O. nigrimana, The eye spacing suggests the sex as femaie, assuming eye spacing is sufficient to identify the sex of flies in this genus. @phycus
New yard species. Sitting still in driveway. Ozodiceromyia nigrimana is the odds-on favorite, but my fly is whiter on the abdomen than most pictures.
