on hardwood stump, probably cottonwood, dark cap color, largest cap size >40 cm, lilac tinted spores, KOH neg, extremely tough stipe - could not wrest it away from stump had to cut
These were growing in the shade of a large evergreen tree. They were pretty small; see my thumb in the photos for scale.
Shelf fungi growing on some sort of hardwood, not sure of species. Wife for scale.
Just off the dirt road/vehicle track that leads southwest from the southeast corner of the upper parking area at Big Springs Park, somewhere between the parking area and the place where the big pipe comes out of the ground in the east side of the trail
We followed the dirt road/vehicle track southwest from the southeast corner of the upper parking area at Big Springs Park. At some point past the place where the big pipe comes out of the ground in the east side of the track, we turned off onto a footpath instead. Not sure how far up along the footpath we went. This observation is from somewhere between the big pipe and the furthest point we got on the footpath.
