Scat on rocks on the creek edge with bone fragments
Joey Thylacine prints.
Mother prints also discovered on the same track line.
Possibly exiting the pouch
To me it looks like a rabbit not a hare. Quite small.
How do Possums die while asleep.
This poor little fellow was a long way up Blue Range Rd, out of his regular habitat and was obviously footsore and exhausted.
When we tried to drive past him I understood how he came to be here. Driving Slow or fast he ran and ran uphill in front of the car.
We stopped and turned off lights several times. We wanted to let him rest and hopefully he would hide and let us past. Again he would run from the grass and start again.
He had obviously been chased up the road by another vehicle and was on his way down when we came and we drove him back up again. By the time we were able to pass him he had run 12 km from the farms at the bottom. Whenever we moved the car, he ran (sometimes at 60km/hr), flicking rocks behind him. When we stopped, he lay on the road.
Unfortunately we had to return the way we came and the poor little thing was still there. He ran downhill another 5km before we passed him.
What should have been a 5 minute car journey took us nearly 2 hours. At least he was closer to home by then.
