the mesquite trees are scattered all over the desert. The branches have thorns on them as well all small threads covered in small leaves. Though they are a tree they are often referred to as bushes due to multiple branches sprouting out and growing more horizontally than vertically. They are covered in seed pods that when get ripe turn red and are actually edible.
