This extremely pale color form of Pearl Crescent was seen on Sept. 24, 2011 at Eagle Lake Wildlife Management Area in Shelby County just north of Memphis. I've never seen a pale individual like this, almost completely devoid of orange pigmentation.

I base this ID on the shape of the wings and antennae, the blue-green shimmer and the faint line of white dots on the hind wing. Is the almost complete lack of color a genetic aberration, or is it simply a very old individual that has lost most of its scales?

Continuing aberrant Zebra longwing that I first observed on December 23, 2021. A little more worn but still looking pretty good. Never new these feed on both nectar and pollen which confers longer life span.

This is an axanthic genetic aberration in which the normal yellow pigment is not expressed (hence no yellow side stripe and no green frog -- it takes yellow pigment to overlay the blue to give you a green tree frog)

Looked strange. A local expert said it was a rare aberrant specimen, he had never seen one before. Black cell on front tip of forewing stands out, no spots. More black than usual. Had barely seen any butterflies in my new, immature garden I made for Brookdale - and then this showed up!

On crabapple tree. There seemed to be some drama in squirrel land that day. Eight or ten regular gray squirrels were having a noisy battle on a huge silver maple tree in the next yard. This albino did not participate, but seemed to be part of a moving group that was battling with our local squad. Maybe? He/she eventually moved into the yard with the silver maple, but stayed on the ground. No other sightings before or after that day.

Nos artigos cientificos ela era descrita somente nos Estados do Rio de Janeiro(Niteroi) e Santa Catarina (Joinville).
Com essa descoberta, foi feito registro cientifico de redistribuição para o Estado de São Paulo.

Etymology.
"The new species is named in honour of Marcos
Campis (Morro Agudo) in recognition of his friendship and
for his efforts on photographing many Lepidoptera species
