One of the 50 rarest birds in the world, the Reunion Cuckooshrike is now restricted to a 16 km2 patch of forest around La Roche Ecrite, and is thought to number around 30 pairs only. Its main predators are feral cats and rats, and conservation efforts are focussed on addressing those threats. But, for now, this bird remains one of the most likely to go extinct in the next few years or decades.
