Expertise in any part of the animal kingdom would be especially valuable to round out our team. Is there a list of places people are committed to checking out vs. a list of events? Like there's an event at Mitchel Canyon at Mt. Diablo but no event for the Diablo summit, so is anyone planning to go up there?

@bluevalhalla We can't accommodate a huge group, but we'd welcome our local iNat members, especially those with some expertise to help with IDs! :) For those adding their names to the ID party list, I'll send out an email with more details on Monday!
@kueda To avoid missing your "low-hanging fruit" we need a way to narrow the list of species seen to get a list of ALL odes or ALL castilleja seen to date--or search the list for a specific species. We can do this for 2016 or 2017 but I cannot figure out how to do it for 2018.
Is this doable?
@nancyasquith You can use the "compare" tool - this link compares all the odes seen in the SF Bay Area in April & May vs. the ones that have been seen so far for the City Nature Challenge: SF Bay Area Odes Apr & May vs. CNC 2018.
You can compare other taxa by changing the taxon id in the two strings. I'll post a list of others in the SF Bay Area CNC projects's journal.
TERRIFIC! Thanks very much, Kestrel. Your tool works beautifully, and I was able to convert it for lepidoptera and owls by changing the taxon ID in both lines to 47157 and 19350 respectively. (I first tried changing it in the top line only, which, of course, does not work.)
To get the taxon #, folks, you do a search then look at the URL, e.g., leps' URL is https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/47157-Lepidoptera and that's where I got the 47157.
[Perhaps we need to tell other cities about the tool to be fair. ]
All the other City Nature Challenge organizers know about the compare tool - I showed them how to use it and let them know to share it with their participants if they'd like! :)
How does one join this project on Inaturalist or get invited to join?
@hailkeepur You don't have to join it, jut upload any observations made in the SF Bay Area Apr 27-30 and they'll automatically become part of the project!
