I currently work for the California Academy of Sciences where I co-direct the Center for Biodiversity & Community Science, working with the public to together share knowledge about, document, and conserve biodiversity in California and beyond. I also am the co-organizer of the City Nature Challenge with @lhiggins. Before this, I was working with the Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association, running a long-term coastal monitoring program. I also spent six years as an environmental educator at an outdoor school in the Santa Cruz mountains.

My background is in intertidal invertebrates but I also have a great fondness for algae and birds. I spend inordinate amounts of time in the tidepools and I over-share pictures of nudibranchs on social media.
