The Taos Soil and Water Conservation District serves the citizens and landowners of Taos County by promoting the wise use of land, water and natural resources. We are excited to join the iNaturalist community in mapping the species of Taos County and surrounding areas.

We are currently focused on mapping the presence of invasive and noxious weeds in northern New Mexico. Our goal is to identify existing infestations and prevent new infestations by catching them early. Invasive species present a myriad of challenges to the environment, economy, and society at large. We hope this project will educate visitors and residents alike in the identification and prevention of noxious weed infestations, and that it will become a helpful resource in the broader statewide battle against invasive species.
