Additional details:
"I was watering the potted plants & I must have gotten them wet when I moved the hose, as they scuttled out of the grass (OK let's be real, out of the well-mowed weeds) & onto the patio, coming to a rest under a bench. I didn't want to disturb them and just snapped a couple quick shots before giving them some space. We see alligator lizards fairly often around our house (and occasionally inside it, too) but this is the first time we've seen them exhibiting any sort of mating behavior. We stopped raking leaves in the front yard a couple years ago (other than to spread them around more evenly), and the lizard population has definitely grown since then."

"My daughter and I came upon these lizards on the steps outside our apartment building in the Rancho Park area on April 9th. We first observed them around 3pm, and they proceeded to move around for at least the next couple of hours. The last time we checked up on them was around 5pm."

I spotted this snail in the back of the UC building on campus. It was moving on concrete so there weren’t any plants near it. The snail is probably 1/6 of my hand size. It was cool outside, about in the high 40s/low 50s degrees Fahrenheit.
