Nudibranch Coryphella trilineata (northern form, about 10mm long) & look-alike amphipod Podocerus cristatus. Scanned from a 35 mm slide I took in the lab in 1984. I had found the specimens in close proximity to each other a few days earlier in the low intertidal at Middle Cove, Cape Arago, Oregon. The amphipod (and her recently hatched juveniles, visible at lower right when viewed large) are on a piece of the outer tube of the polychaete Pista elongata; the slug is on a piece of the hydroid Abietinaria.

Notice the white head tentacles of the slug and the white antennae on the amphipod. Farther south, near Puerto Vallarta, MX, the amphipod lacks white lines, just like the abundant local aeolids (see Fig. 1f-h in paper here: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/282252603).

No idea. Photographed accidentally on the same piece of (ostrich plume) hydroid as the dotos (prev. observation). very very small. Second picture has one (or two) of the dotos in it, but it's the yellow blobs I'm wondering about.

We believe these to be Striped Cusk-Eel mating calls. Numerous recordings from around the area (Nantucket Harbor) on the same week.

In July, 1998, and again in July, 2001, I spent some time on the island of Saba in the Netherlands Antilles with friends who were both researchers helping to gather data on nesting Red-billed Tropicbirds on the cliff sides in various locations there. On a couple of occasions I helped out gathering data on adults and nestlings by weighing and measuring the birds, etc.

The bird was removed from the nest briefly for weighing, etc.

We had watched the adult incubating this single egg for several days and it hatched on the morning of 6 July 1998. I posted a shot of the adult incubating a few years ago at:

In image 1 you can see bits of the eggshell near the bird.
This chick later fledged successfully I was told.
