Fresh observations from around the world bring us a sample of colorful caterpillars... soon to metamorphose and take flight!
Check these out:
From Trinidad & Tobago, we have a Tetrio Sphinx (Pseudosphinx tetrio) observed by @rachwl and a Gulf Fritillary (Araulis vanillae) photographed by @magichin
From South Korea, a bright Tropical Fritillary by @onidiras
From Guatemala, a furry "Choconoy" (as it's known in this country, Genus Arachnis), photographed by @josuedeleonlux.
From Peru, a soon to be Tiger Milkweed Butterfly (Genus Danaus) observed by @awsalas
And in the USA:
From New Jersey: this well camouflaged Tobacco Budworm Moth (Chloridea virescens) by @sadawolk
From North Carolina, a strangely handsome Pandorus Sphinx (Eumorpha pandorus) by @bonnieeamick
And from Syracuse (NY), one truly bizarre Silver-spotted Skipper (Epargyreus clarus) by @astrobirder
Wonderful observations all!

That sphinx caught me by surprise! I was running later than I wanted to be to hit the trails but decided to walk my yard first.... in my own backyard! It was HUGE, I'd never seen one before and I'd be unlikely to have seen it if I wasn't looking for critters! Thanks to these bioblitzes giving me an excuse to find things like that!
We're glad you found your sphinx! And have fun finding more unexpected critters this coming Sunday during the 9th SD Bioblitz ;-)
