Save Knowland Park Bio-Blitz

This N4N bioblitz was put together very quickly. Why? There is a whole lot at stake. Ignoring community outcry and without conducting a flora/fauna inventory, Oakland Zoo proposes to bulldoze and develop 50 acres of open space (10% of Knowland’s 500 acres). This expansion will happen over an area that has not been inventoried. That’s where N4N fits in. We propose to bioblitz the flora and fauna of this area and to prepare to answer, for future generations, “What lived here before this land was developed?” This will be the last time anyone can inventory this space as it is now. Within 2 weeks goats used for vegetation management will indiscriminately feed upon the low lying vegetation in the area. There will be nothing left to inventory in two weeks. menos ↑
