One of my observations was the plant Rugosa rose and one of its adaptions is the growth of thorns on its epidermis. This adaptation helps the Rugosa Rose to defend itself from being eaten by predators, such as animals, who could be attracted to it due to its sweet smell. All my observations are perennials, and their shared adaptation is that they die during the winter (but keep their roots in the soil) and regrow in the spring. To finish, the English Oak (another one of my observations) is in the genus Quercus of the Beech family.
