Welcome!

Welcome to our project! This goal of this project is to better understand where diamondback terrapins (Malaclemys terrapin) are spending their time throughout coastal Florida. Diamondback terrapin populations have been decreasing due to illegal pet trade, habitat destruction, and entrapment and subsequent drowning in crab pots. Because of these declines in population, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has listed the diamondback terrapin as a Near Threatened species. With your help and sightings, we can better map and track populations of diamondback terrapins throughout Florida's coastal regions.
