Old man's beard is a wide spread weed in Wellington. In order to determine priority areas for control it would be good to understand more about its distribution. Currently Wellington City Council concentrates control in reserves of high ecological value. For the Regional Council it is listed here https://www.gw.govt.nz/pest-and-weed-central/?pwsystem=true&pwid=693
Information on how to control Old man's beard can be found here http://www.weedbusters.org.nz/weed-information/clematis-vitalba/59/
Old man’s beard (Clematis vitalba) is a deciduous woody climber. It is very invasive and threatens our forests. It is highly visible as it produces feathery seed heads between February and June.
