Found with head stuck in a grate where culvert allowed water to flow beneath road in Cypress-Gum Swamp. Appears to have become stuck and died when unable to escape. We removed from grate to get identification photos. Scale on upper side of field notebook is 12 cm total. Esmitate of length, using the 12 cm rule on notebook for scale, is around 46 cm (18"). Grate photo is sufficient to make out four toes on the front limb. Not able to count costal grooves which would separate Lesser from Greater.
