Género SargassumObservador
mags49Descrição
Picked up on the beach at Praslin Island, Seychelles.
Mainly observed in the Atlantic, only a few iNat observations of Sargassum fluitans in the Seychelles, though algae base https://www.algaebase.org/search/species/detail/?species_id=825 indicates found in Pacific, Indonesia and Red Sea.
I think the features observed best match this Sargassum - broader toothed leaves with a rib, rounded pea-sized 'bladders' without a spine on the end, and spines seen on older stems.
There appears to be frequent ?stomata? on the leaves.

Phone photos not great:-(
Had a look at https://www.britishbryologicalsociety.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Plagiothecium-undulatum.pdf
Can see flattened stems on relatively long single shoots, small pale leaves that are crinkled.
Overall conspicuous and light/bright compared to surroundings.
Edited to add: growing on the mossy ground surface in woodland

Dryomyza anilisObservador
mags49Descrição
Infuscated cross veins prominent.
https://www.naturespot.org.uk/species/dryomyza-anilis indicates that D anilis can be separated from two confusers by setulae/hairs along a particular vein, R1.
But the same source says the two confusers lack the darkened or obscured or brown tinged (ie infuscated) cross veins.
No microscope nor very good closeups.

No reasonable views of this lovely flower, sad to say. Have added in so many bad photos in case there is something in them to give any ID pointers.

The Split Apple Rock and surrounding area, Abel Tasman NP.
A long time ago, and photos not great. Think the orange feet and the white stripes down the sides of the neck make them this species, or even a subspecies.

On Aldabra. Think this is what's left after death of a calcareous seaweed.
Would like to get closer to what this is, if that's possible. Second trip to the area, last time I saw some of this and needed a lot of help to get to Halimedacea, fascinating. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/42493151
Photo 4 is of a sample brought home from another island without NP or highly protected status - NOT from Aldabra which is strictly protected. Might be a different species, of course!

Eared seal. Seen a long time ago and forgotten. NZ fur seals were seen on rocks in another area. This animal was in a sandy area, near Dunedin.
I wondered if someone could help with this ID? Thanks!

Aldabra atoll lagoon
In one of the photos can see a hint of a light underside, would that make it a Spotted Eagle Ray? Saw one of these in same lagoon 4 years ago, this trip this ray was great to see but not so great to photograph!
I've looked around and can't see othe Ray observations in the lagoon, so don't know if other Rays are likely.
