This common buckeye with torn wings was flying near some patches of pennyroyal. Not many butterflies of the same species were found in the vicinity. I believe this is a female butterfly, do to some fainter markings on the wings but I cannot be sure.

This dried pennyroyal was found in direct sunlight and in a large quantity. There was no water in the vicinity where the pennyroyal was found. Most of the plant in this area was dried out, some of the pennyroyal did appear more alive with the purple flowers.
