Cerioporus squamosus

The Cerioporus squamosus is a fungi in the family Polyporacae, which includes fungi with a hard, leathery, or corky consistency and spores found in interior tubes. Fungi in this family are usually found on wood and assist with its decomposition. The Cerioporus squamosus, also called Polyporus squamosus in the scientific community and Dryad's Saddle colloquially, are broad, large, almost circular mushrooms with a depressed center that grow either in clusters or singly on deciduous trees. They are white to yellowish or brown and scaly, and are edible, but not particularly enjoyable to eat, when young.
