Summary ²

This medium-sized squirrel is uncommon in most areas but can be locally abundant. Their orange-ish color is distinctive. Also note the white belly (especially the amount of contrast between the belly and the back) and the white eye ring.

Statewide except southwest portion of the state.

Habitat ³

Any habitat with conifer trees.
