Identification of C. rugosa in Manitoba

- leaves are opposite
- fruit is light blue
- bark is greenish, usually streaked with purple
C. alternifolia, the other blue fruited Cornus in Manitoba, has alternate leaves and dark blue fruit
Where does it grow?

In Manitoba, the plant is not commonly found. Look for it in deciduous forests of southern Manitoba.
