Identification of C. rugosa in Manitoba 1

  • shrub 1-3 meters tall
  • leaves are opposite
  • fruit is light blue
  • bark is greenish, usually streaked with purple

C. alternifolia, the other blue fruited Cornus in Manitoba, has alternate leaves and dark blue fruit

Where does it grow? 1

In Manitoba, the plant is not commonly found. Look for it in deciduous forests of southern Manitoba.
