The green frog (Lithobates clamitans or Rana clamitans) is a species of frog native to the eastern half of the United States and Canada. The two subspecies are the bronze frog and the northern green frog.

Description 6

Size: 2 - 4 inches

Color: Green, brown or tan

Smooth skin with two raised ridges of skin that begin just above their ear and run on either side of their body most but not all of the way to their tail.

Habitat: Lives close to shallow water, springs, streams, swamps, brooks, and edges of ponds and lakes. May be found among rotting debris of fallen trees.

Habitat 7

This species requires habitats well-supplied with water or dampness and abundant shrubs. Green frogs live close to shallow, fresh water and are widespread in wetlands, ponds, and streams. It may be found in the grassy margins of standing water or in swamps and marshes.

Voice: like the twang of a loose banjo string, usually given as a single note.

Burst of sound that when given in rapid succession, will get progressively
quieter. Made through a pair of internal vocal pouches.
