Wisconsin's rarest normally occurring bat species, it specializes in preying on beetles. It is found in Wisconsin only in summer, it migrates further south for the winter. Wisconsin's smallest bat species, it is distinguished from the others by small size and two upper incisors rather than the four typical of most other species. Beware confusion with Little Brown Bat.

Roosts in trees and occasionally buildings, forages wherever there are large amounts of beetles flying around.
