Flower: White simple shaped, 5-6 petals
Leaves: evergreen, basal, palmately compound in groups of 3 at end of stem that is shorter than flower stem, leaflets; fan-shaped, up to 1 inch long, hairless, notched tips or shallow lobes, small teeth around the tip half, shiny surface
Fruit/Seed: 4 to 7 pods, 1/3 inch long, elliptic with long taper to pointed tip, beak mostly straight, on stalk about as long as pod
Height: 3-6 inches
Flowering: May - June
Habitat: moist mossy woods, conifer swamps, bogs
