Flower: White elongated cluster
Leaves: few but large, twice compound, over 2 feet long and wide, leaflets 5½ inches long, oval but typically heart-shaped at base, abruptly tapering to sharply pointed tip, sharply toothed
Fruit/Seed: berry-like capsule ¼ inch in diameter, 5-sectioned, turns dark purple, resembles elderberries when ripe
Height: 3-7 feet
Flowering: July
Habitat: rich woods
