Description ²

• Flower: Purple odd shaped
• Leaves: compound in groups of 3 at end of long stem, leaflets have sharply pointed tip, base usually asymmetrical and may be rounded or tapering, roughly egg to diamond shaped, middle leaflet larger than lateral 2, up to 3 inches long and 2½ inches wide, and is long-stalked with lateral leaflets stalkless or nearly so
• Fruit/Seed: green pea pod, 1½ inches long, each pod containing 3 or 4 seeds
• Height: 1-5 foot vine
• Flowering: July - September
• Habitat: moist woods, thickets
