Flower: Purple odd shaped
Leaves: compound in groups of 3 at end of long stem, leaflets have sharply pointed tip, base usually asymmetrical and may be rounded or tapering, roughly egg to diamond shaped, middle leaflet larger than lateral 2, up to 3 inches long and 2½ inches wide, and is long-stalked with lateral leaflets stalkless or nearly so
Fruit/Seed: green pea pod, 1½ inches long, each pod containing 3 or 4 seeds
Height: 1-5 foot vine
Flowering: July - September
Habitat: moist woods, thickets
