Flower: White elongated cluster
Leaves: 2 to 4 leaves, alternately attached, nearly erect, sheathing at the base, oval to elliptic, 2 to 4¾ inches long, 1 to 1½ inches wide, pointed tips, tapering towards base, toothless and hairless, numerous faint lines on the surface
Fruit/Seed: small berry, green with reddish spots, ripens to bright red
Height: 4-16 inches
Flowering: May - June
Habitat: Bogs, swamps, wet forests
