Description ²

• Shape: Multi-stemmed shrub
• Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Opposite
• Flower: Yellow tubular shaped
• Leaves: 1½-3½ inches long, 1-2 inches wide, edges toothless but fringed in fine hairs
• Bark: brown – gray, often peeling in strips
• Fruit/Seed: pair of berries, bright red, oval, each ¼-1/3 inch long, the pair point in opposite directions
• Height: 2-4 feet
• Flowering: May - June
• Habitat: woods
