Neuropharmacologist at University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand (now retired). My interests are in the area of CNS neurophysiology and the way(s) neurotoxins adversely affect CNS function. I also devoted many years to the study of seizure, stroke and novel neuroprotective drugs.

Since retiring I have retained a relationship with my former department (Honorary Associate Professor), and have been appointed Honorary Curator of Entomology (Diptera) at Otago Museum (OMNZ).

I am founder and Director of a small company, Kerr Scientific Instruments, which spun out of brain slice recording equipment developed in my lab.
