I have been birding for over 20 years, and more recently have become as much of an "all-around naturalist" as I can be, and for the most part have stopped birding at all in June, July and August. There's not much else to look at in the winter in Ontario though!

I really enjoy understanding the interactions between and distribution of species across my local area, and how these distributions are changing. Speculating on the influence of geography, human development, climate change and ongoing evolution is always fun.

Exploration is a big part of the reason I go out - I am well on my way towards my goal of visiting every accessible natural area in my city, and hope to eventually have iNaturalist records for all of them.

Always keen to explore with anyone else able to tolerate the slow and erratic "naturalist's walking pace" - don't hesitate to contact me if you're in my area! I'm always looking to learn what I don't know and share what I do.

Note: ALL my photos are released to the public domain, meaning anybody can use them for any purpose with no need to ask me or give me credit. I firmly believe the world would be a better place if everyone did the same. There are still many taxa for which no good photo exists in the public domain or even under Creative Commons. Out of personal interest, I would appreciate being informed of any purpose to which my photos are put, but no obligation. Feel free to contact me if you want a higher resolution copy.
