My name is Kate, and I am currently employed as an architecture and design writer. I have been interested in nature observation since I was a little girl growing up in the Sandhills of North Carolina. I want to make the world a better place by promoting biodiversity and raising awareness about invasive species and ecological restoration. I am the administrator for the Invasive Exotic Plants of North Carolina iNaturalist project, the creator of the Invasive Exotic Plants of NC iNaturalist guide, and a member of the North Carolina Invasive Plant Council.

I gave a talk at the 2016 NC IPC Symposium about using iNaturalist to track invasive plant outbreaks (http://nc-ipc.weebly.com/2016-agenda.html)

I moved to Maryland in 2016 to study at Johns Hopkins University, and now that I am finished with graduate school and have more time, I look forward to continuing my work as a citizen scientist in the city of Baltimore. I am a member of the Maryland Native Plant Society and am on the Mid-Atlantic Invasive Plant Council Mailing List.
