What a wonderful day at the Post Oak Preserve with the Texas Nature Trackers and several other naturalists -- we documented a LOT of great things today!
Went on a bit of a walk to the northern part of the camp while the kids were in school. Spotted even more cool things! :)

Was feeling quite tired this afternoon, and the kids were in school, so I went over to the lake just by myself to take it easy. Enjoyed some quiet time! :)

My nephew, niece, and I went again to the lake to explore some more! This time, we went along the north side -- spotted neat stuff!

This day felt a lot like "Saudi Arabia" to me -- my sister, niece, and I went to Judah's Thumb. Incredible area -- such cool organisms!!!

Elizabeth and I went on a long road trip to Philadelphia! We made a whole slew of stops along the way too. :)
We stayed at a place just outside of Vicksburg, and I put up the black-lights!
Location approximate.
What a wonderful time I had with fellow TPWD folks at a staff meeting this week! Had a really cool opportunity to do some black-lighting with Ross and others at Albert and Bessie Kronkosky State Natural Area. Didn't stay out too long (so dry!), but a few cool things did show up.
Went over to Tandy Hills a bit this afternoon -- always fun to do some bug-hunting here! :)
My last day in Washington DC, and I was so lucky to spend some time in the field with Carrie and Natalie! We went over to Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens. Super interesting spot!
After the Wildlife Society Meeting, I went a tiny bit north of Spokane to this natural area. It was super cool but quite amazing! :)
Had a wonderful afternoon with my dad on the land -- quite a few bugs out today! :)

Went over to do some black-lighting at Tandy Hills this evening -- didn't stay long because of thunder and lightening! Spotted a few cool things this evening nonetheless. :)

Lovely weather outside today, so I visited a few parks in Arlington! :)
As we were walking the edge of the stream, we saw this young man hook the fish. He allowed me to photograph it before releasing it back into the water.
This was amazing to see! I had no idea there were "bee" assasin bugs. If you look closely, you can see at least 7 smaller flies? on the captured bee. Adding images of smaller creatures as separate observation.
BB that has been at Lake Grapevine for the last week and a half. Finally close enough for some pics.
Monahans Sandhills State Park is such an incredibly unique place. Had such a blast exploring the area, despite the warmer temps.
Another GHO "guarding" a bridge watching the swallows emerge

Two baby squirrels - just too cute! I know they’ll probably be in our yard eating all our pears before long, but who needs pears anyway?
After a good meeting about greenways and connecting trails in Kennedale, I stopped by Sonora Park -- lots of good habitat here!
Stopped by the parents' place and spotted a few birds too.
What a nice morning -- big time thanks to Taylor for letting me check out the black-throated blue warbler that's sticking around his place. Stopped briefly at Harry Moss Park too.
At lunch I went to look for some birds at Village Creek Drying Beds. I found some. :)

The owl is back on his/her favorite tree. Time is actually 5:49 - Had to fix Daylight savings time.
We stopped by Bentsen Rio Grande Valley State park just briefly as well.
Ate lunch at this really scenic spot -- lots of birds and critters too!

Went to go looking for quetzals! Our guide Jimmy knew exactly where to go -- we spotted about 9 individuals and I got photos of a few of them. We spotted other cool stuff too. :) ID's still pending...

After seeing some quetzals in the AM, we went on this nature trail by the Trogon Lodge. Great fun! I've got lots of work to ID these. Stay tuned!

After presenting at the Heard Museum this morning, I stopped at this park for lunch on the way back.
Had some great fun with folks on a nature walk and iNaturalist demonstration.
Had a great time with some folks surveying this area in Grapevine -- great habitat here!
My first birds in the bluebird house.
Cobblestone Trail Park -- a great park with some historic cross timbers sand and really neat plant communities. I just need to do a trash clean up here someday. :)
Was up in Denton for a Recovering America's Wildlife Act presentation, worked in the library, but I just HAD to go outside and enjoy the nice weather.
Not sure what is going on but this is the fourth birder that I know of who has had a phoebe perch on their binoculars or on their person at Commons Ford.
Temps in the 70's today after a few pretty cold days... So I tossed out the moth lights to see what would show. :)
Spotted a few things today at work.
