Refining that data
A big thank you to everyone who's out there checking identifications and refining those records. It's wonderful to have so many wildlife sightings to work with.

Over 1000 sightings! That didn't take long this morning! What a difference a day makes. Enjoy the dry weather everyone.
The rain has stopped, the wind has died down and I've even seen a hint of sunshine. Will today be the day that we can reach over 1000 wildlife observations? Finger's crossed and happy hunting everybody!
Thanks everyone, despite the weather we've seen loads of recording activities throughout the day. With about 350 sightings of over 160 species, we're off to a good start for our first ever City Nature Challenge. Let's see what tomorrow will bring!
Early days yet, but our most observed species is the dandelion: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/47602-Taraxacum-officinale
So the first wildlife sighting into the Greater Manchester City Nature Challenge is the grey squirrel. They are so common in cities in the UK that it seems quite an appropriate record to open the weekend of biological recording!
The Challenge opens at midnight tonight. Who will be the first to record some urban wildlife in Greater Manchester? Do we have any night owls out there?
We're getting very excited now as the clock counts down to Friday 26th April. If you want to use iNaturalist to record wildlife and you'd like to find out more about how it works, drop into our pre-Challenge event at Manchester Museum. Thursday, 6-9pm, http://events.manchester.ac.uk/calendar/date:2019-04-25/view:day/
Thursday 18th April, Panama comes to Manchester Museum and we will be showcasing the Greater Manchester and Panama City iNaturalist projects: https://wp.me/pAr5k-1n1
Not long now until the City Nature Challenge starts in earnest!
We've now got a new UK website up and running with details of all the UK cities competing in the City Nature Challenge. It's hosted by the Bristol Natural History Consortium who are taking part in the Challenge for the second year running. Check out the competition here: https://www.bnhc.org.uk/bioblitz/city-nature-challenge/
