FYI on the CA Oakwatch project from CNPS, resources for Oak Woodland/Tree management

Apologies for the acronym soup, but if you're interested in joining the CA Native Plant Society (CNPS) started a project (California Oakwatch) to track and identify oaks, focusing on recruiting/young oaks and rare oaks across the State:

They also linking informative training videos on Youtube and some PDF resources to learn to better ID our native oaks.

There are over 20 species of native California oaks. Several of these are endemic and grow naturally nowhere outside of California, while others are more wide ranging and grow from Canada to Mexico. There are both shrubby oak species that never grow more than a few feet tall, as well as oaks that attain a tree form.
