Texas Pollinator BioBlitz Re-cap

Thanks for participating in the inaugural Texas Pollinator BioBlitz! The event was a huge success. We have posted more than 2,200 observations Documenting more than 400 species, mostly pollinators.

A special shout out to Curtis Eckerman (@cmeckerman) for being the top observer with 274 observations of 95 species! Bravos Curtis!

We hope that participation raised your awareness of pollinators in your environment and how you might support them. To learn more about pollinators and how you can support native pollinator habitat, check our resources page: https://tpwd.texas.gov/education/bioblitz/guides.

If you are new to iNaturalist we hope you will continue to use this tool to learn about the species you encounter in nature. There are several Texas-based projects that support conservation and research at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and your observations can continue to help. Learn about and join our Texas Nature Trackers Projects on iNaturalist so you can keep on logging your observations: http://tpwd.texas.gov/huntwild/wild/wildlife_diversity/texas_nature_trackers/projects/.

Welcome to the Inaugural Texas Pollinator BioBlitz

From October 7-16, 2016 we’re celebrating the bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, birds and other animals that are critical to our native plants and food supply.

Join the fun!

Throughout the event, give the pollinator full-house challenge a try: photograph a pollinating bee, beetle, butterfly, fly, and bird (not all at once or at the same site, but over the course of the blitz).
