I am a semi- retired mycologist who worked in research for Agriculture Canada under Dr. S.J. Hughes and in regulatory/quarantine/plant pathology mycology with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
I have had a wide range of mycological and taxonomic experience with fungi but have a passion for the Dematiaceous Hyphomycetes and Myxomycetes. Over the past decade I have been collecting and identifying these fungi in Ontario primarily in the Ottawa Valley and the Madawaska Highlands. This interest has extended to the aquatic environment where some of my more interesting finds have occurred. Currently I am studying the fungi in small or medium sized City of Ottawa woodlots. These woodlots sustain populations of many micro fungi and are proving to be good reservoirs for them.
