Until recently I have spent my career working as a field biologist. This job has taken me all over the world working primarily with seabirds and migratory songbirds. During this time I developed excellent statistical and spatial analytical skills that I have applied to a diversity of projects. Generally, I am interested in how life history traits evolve in response to environmental gradients, making migratory birds an excellent study system. My future plans focus on understanding the ecological factors and genetic adaptations that shape the phenotypes across environmental gradients. My research combines field-based experiments contrasting different phenotypes using physiological and genomic methods. Currently, I manage the Climate Impacts Research Centre an Arctic research program for Umeå University. My leadership role also includes coordinating and teaching our Arctic courses and public outreach.
