Consultant ornithologist / conservation biologist, working in Neotropics (especially Venezuela, and to a lesser extent Nicaragua and Peru, but have worked throughout, from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego—and Antarctica) since 1988. Research Associate at Colección Ornitológica Phelps and Provita. Former editor of the on-line Handbook of the Birds of the World—HBWAlive and the Lynx and BirdLife International Field Guides series; currently Associate Editor of Birds of the World at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Associate Editor of the Bulletin of the British Ornithologists’ Club. Co-author of Lynx & BirdLife International Field Guide to the Birds of the West Indies (July 2019), Hummingbirds (May 2022), Venezuela Fauna Red Data Book (2015), etc. Relocated from Caracas to Norfolk, UK, in 2010 in an ultimately fruitless attempt to escape the catastrophic effects of authoritarian nationalist populism. Global bird records on eBird, UK bird records to 2018 on BirdTrack, UK non-bird records on iRecord. Lifelong naturalist. Have led >100 bird tours in Americas (Alaska south). http://thecuriousnaturalist.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html
