This is an active bumblebee nest. I saw two different bees enter successively and then leave the nest, but I wasn't fast enough to capture a photo of either.

On Eurybia macrophylla, one of the dominant understory plants in this forest. Practically every Eurybia leaf was mined! These moths were everywhere!
