The highlight of my day, week, even month, was this female Golden-winged Warbler I found in dense low brush between the picnic tables by the Braes Valley parking lot and the creek. I even caught it doing one of my favorite warbler foraging behaviors. The second photos shows the bird opening its bill to spread out the folded dead leaf it is inspecting.

Inca Doves have become less and less common over the 15 years I've been birding this neighborhood. I was excited to first hear and then see this single bird.

Recorded on Lake Creek Trail in Williamson County. One exciting thing about birding in central Texas in spring is that some of the migrating birds you encounter might be singing! I decided to wade the creek this morning and I heard this Northern Waterthrush before I saw it. I did not recognize the song and was excited to finally spot the bird while it was singing.

Description

Taken on an amazing spring morning after a heavy rain the night before, on Hill Country Conservancy's Nalle Bunny Run wildlife preserve.

Two stunning Magnolia Warblers and a Chestnus-sided Warbler were loosely foraging together in the deciduous woods habitat area.

Earlier in the morning I heard and then distantly saw the Chestnut-sided but could never get a photo of it. I was excited to find these three birds later and get photo opportunities for all of them! We don't have many records of migrating warblers on the Bunny Run, so it was very satisfying to get these.
