Does frog fruit have the ability to grow upward? This site is where I come monthly to check the water quality, and I t thought I recognized most of the low foliage here. We've had lots of rain this spring, and the mowers have not cut this area lately, so a number of individuals of this species have grown higher than is usually allowed in this mown area. There is frog fruit here, and these leaves look similar. I suggest frog fruits, and hope an Identifier corrects me. No blooms on the stem or top of stem.

This is a water snake observed in the Museum Reach of the San Antonio river walk. the river bank at this part of the river channel is engineered, with no natural egress. We first saw the wave ripple of the snake moving along the wall, then it moved onto the water lilies pads and stopped.I was surprised to see that a few water lilies were strong enough to hold up the weight on the animal. A lot more snake remains submerged. The colors are brown and black

a red eared slider on the large tree branch that recently got lodged under the pedestrian bridge. this site has become a place to look for turtles. In this instance, there is a second turtle behind the leaf adorned turtle, so I know there are at least 2 turtles here. These 2 have different neck coloring than the one I observed last month, so there are 3 turtles in this bedraggled urban creek.

Descrição

The last big flooding rain washed down a big piece of tree, and it has lodged underneath the pedestrian bridge, on the west bank of Olmos creek. Usually partly submerged, it is now a turtle emerging spot. Taxon suggests slider, but I see no red ear spot, so I suggest this is an older turtle, "melanistic" is a term an identifier used, meaning darker skinned. I welcome comments from identifiers on this observation.

Apologies for the low quality of the image, this photo was taken at the limits of my camera distance. The location of this observation is Olmos Creek and this bird is new to me. I could hear the chattering call of this bird, but only saw it during brief open winged swoops over the creek, as it flew from one tree to another. I stayed for several minutes, failing to see it, and It remained concealed in the dappled shade. Then it briefly perched in the full sun on a small tree trunk. It has a bright white collar around its neck and the crested feathers of a kingfisher, but I don't know which species.

This observation is a shrub with berries growing along the San Antonio riverwalk underneath the bridge for Cesar Chavez Blvd. The location is a Texas Stream Team Monitoring site. The shrub is likely planted, but it is big and healthy, so the planting must have been over a decade ago. In this parched summer, finding a beautyberry shrub in such good condition is a testament to the advantages of the riverwalk's "below the street level" cooler and shadier microenvironment. I understand this is a casual observation.

Very close to the Blue Hole, which is the artesian source of the San Antonio River, there is a huge fallen oak that has been sawn into sections, but left on the forest floor. I observed this cup fungus among the leaf litter. I suggest Galiella rufa, because this observation matches the description and illustration of Galiella rufa Hairy rubber Cup, on page 181 of the Field Guide Mushrooms of the Gulf Coast States, Bessette, Bessette and Lewis. I have included a second annotated photo showing the site where I found the cup fungus, and 2 other organisms. the cup fungus is the yellow box on the left.
