According to BirdGuides there are one or two individuals who have been here for a good number of days now. I only saw one, but glad I got to see it - a lifer, and a beautiful bird to watch flying. And what a journey it’s been in to get here!

Saw this bird posted on Bird Guides so made a trip out there - for the life of me couldn’t see it for a good hour or so walking around all the flooded bits, until on my way back, dejected and despondent, I turned around for one last look in the binoculars and there it was! Very exciting, but it took me by surprise how small it was! Whoever spotted it first, fair play.

A female Common Scoter and (I think) a male (second to last and last picture) based on the yellow on the bill - although maybe a younger one because of the lighter patches? Not sure.

After two failed days trying to see them, I finally saw two owls! Beautiful birds, very acrobatic and agile as they hunt. A very good afternoon’s birding. Due to the low light I couldn’t get many good photos in flight, but I loved the last two shots because it shows the way the owl stretches its legs to almost launch itself upwards as it takes off - or at least that’s what it looked like to me!

While I was looking for the Red Throated Diver (background, I think) this guy popped up in front of it. Given the size, yellow-y looking beak and especially the way it dives into the water I want to say cormorant or shag - but what do other people think?

Went out of Glasgow to try and see this bird after someone put it up on BirdGuides, but turned out what I thought was a path around the loch was actually private property - cue a muddy trudge around the southside of the loch, and a very long distance view of what I’m pretty sure is the Diver. The markings and slightly upturned beak look about right anyway. Apologies for the poor quality, it was a good half a kilometre away!!

Thought it was a Redwing, but actually, looking at the photos, it might be a surprise Fieldfare! There were at least two of them in this tree, and I saw some thrush like birds later too but not close enough to identify them.
