After finding the bluebird feather in a heavily burned area, I ventured out into a less populated grassy area, that's only inhabitants were towering trees and small bushes, compared to where I found the bluebird feather, which was heavily densified by trees, bushes, shrubs, small plants, and grass.

These 7 trees were the tallest still-standing tree in about a square mile of land. These tall, highly chard giants were one of the few trees that did not have sprouts/new growth coming out of the bottom of its trunk. For its size, I assumed it would be regrowing at a rapid tree, but considering other trees in the surrounding area were sprouting, I have to guess that this may be a separate species.

I searched the surrounding area thoroughly, but this was the only feather of any bird that I could find. It was laying under a burned tree, that was sprouting with new growth. It was very small, and when I picked it up, the wind swiftly knocked it away from me, never to be seen again. The feather was roughly 5 centimeters in length.

This flower was the lone flowering plant, growing out of dry soil, in an area dominated by dead grasses. It's vibrant colors popped out at me and made it clear to see from more than 20 feet away. I found a couple more flowering plants like this, but this was the largest and the most secluded.

This particular plant was one of 3 flowers in roughly a 10 foot radius. This particular plant stood out because it was much larger than the other flowers. Its pedals on the tips were a rich red, while the closer to the middle, the lighter it got. Spots begin to appear, starting at the center and working their way out until about an inch before the edge of each pedal. 4 out of the 6 pedals folded in toward the middle of the flower, while the other two pedals stood straight up.

This sprout was growing in the hard dirt, roughly 2 inches away from an Oak tree. Most of the similar sprouts were growng directly out of the tree, popping straight out. This single sprout was a maroon/crimson color, with light orange leaves. Compared to the other sprouts, which were mostly green or dark yellow, this single sprout stood out for it's location in relation to the tree, it's size, and most importantly its color. The leaves ranged in length from 1 to 4 inches, some being a light red, while others were more of a bright orange. The leaves were leathery with a shiny coat around them.
